Ana by Ninina-nini Ana by Ninina-nini
Ana is made from ceramics, has jointed arms and legs and is painted with watercolors (yes, there is a final varnish over to seal the colors in). The dress is of course made from textiles and I had quite some difficulties sewing it (mainly because I'm just not used to sewing tiny things anymore). And I think I'll remove that pocket. What do you think?

Standing up she measures 26 cm but cannot really stand up by herself.

All the comments will be greatly appreciated

She looks lovely. I think the pocket looks fine the way it is - adds contrast to her clothes. I particulalry love the way you did her hair - the plethora of colours work very well together. :D

Very lovely, I vote the pocket stays! Have you ever worked in polymer clay like sculpy or fimo? You can get similar results and you can bake it in your own oven :D

Hehe, noted :D

Yes, I have just recently got hold of some sculpey but haven't had the chance to try it. I plan on making another doll as soon as I can, but these things just cannot be forced, if you know what I mean. And right now, I just don't have the energy for them :/

Thank you for your comment!

Oh my godness Nini she is so beautiful! I love her petite nose and lips :D

Her dress suits her skin tones very well, and just to add, i love the effect of the skin, the sort of layered look, like proper skin :)

And i like the pocket, it breaks up the dress a little :)

Are you planning on making anymore? :)

Why thank you dear!

Yes, I do plan on making more as soon as I find a suitable material to work with. Since I don't have a kiln I can't make them in ceramics (plus she is a bit too heavy). And that "paperclay" thingie is a bit too dry to work with, especially on small scales. I will give it a try and use it with a lot of water but I have my doubts :)

I love that effect of the skin too. It has a lot to do with small pieces (that look like salt) that were in clay. No way I can make it in other material though :/

:o how tall and heavy is she?

Hmm, have you considered super sculpey, you only need a regular oven to bake it :)

Well I would if we had it here. But last time I checked they didn't sell it. Maybe by now they got it. Or they would be prepared to buy it. Hmm... but yes, looking at your tiny sculptures it does qualify  How quick does it dry when you work with it? The ornament you made me is made from it right?

Ana is 26cm tall and... well... not THAT heavy, just a bit weird to hold. Can't really say you know.

Hmm, well if you can't find any, id be happy to buy some and pass it on for you, if you would like? its about....10 for a pound of flesh coloured sculpey, which is a large-ish block :)
It bakes at 130 degrees C, 15 mins for 1/4 inch thickness (any thicker needs to be bulked out with foil-instructions on the box! lol) so very quick in most respects :)

Shes taller than i thought! :)
